Trojans drop wild one to U-Hi
POST FALLS — The University Titans rallied from an early 16-0 deficit, scoring the go-ahead touchdown with 15 seconds remaining to beat the Post Falls Trojans 43-37 in a nonleague game at Trojan Stadium.
“It was an exciting high school football game,” Post Falls coach Blaine Bennett said. “(Coach) Adam Daniels does a good job at University. I thought our defense played really hard and I was pleased with how our front seven played defensively against their heavy run.”
Post Falls jumped out to a 16-0 lead after the first quarter on touchdown receptions by Alex Horning and Jake Rutherford, both coming on passes from Derek Pearse. University (2-0) held Post Falls scoreless in the second quarter, scoring 14 points to cut the deficit to 16-14 at halftime.
Tommy Hauser had a touchdown reception for Post Falls in the fourth quarter to tie the game at 37-37 late in the fourth quarter.
“We moved the ball really well at times,” Bennett said. “Our receivers really made some big plays tonight, but had a tough time running the ball against them. They were big and physical up front.”
Post Falls (1-2) travels to Moses Lake next Friday.
