Lake City sweeps away Gonzaga Prep

COEUR d’ALENE — Klaire Mitchell had 13 kills and 20 assists for the Lake City Timberwolves in a 25-21, 25-8, 25-15 win over the Gonzaga Prep Bullpups at Lake City High on Wednesday.
Ashley Kaufman had 11 kills and three aces, Reilley Chapman 11 digs, Tanai Jenkins three blocks, Janae Rayborn three aces and Nellie Reese 17 assists for Lake City (3-0), which returns to 5A Inland Empire League play at Post Falls tonight at 7 p.m.
“It took us a little bit to get going with some unforced errors early on,” Lake City coach Mike Summers said. “We started running our tempo offense and just got dialed in offensively and defensively. Our covering of our hitters was what we want to see moving forward. In the third set, we got some of our younger kids in, and they picked up right where the starters left off.”

KELLOGG — Karlee Raudebaugh had four aces, Tayva Maitland three kills and Jacey Grange four blocks and two kills for the Warriors in a 25-9, 25-8, 25-27, 25-18 loss to the Wildcat junior varsity at Andrews Gymnasium.
Amanda Wine had two kills and four blocks and Abby Tiller two blocks for Kootenai, which travels to Wallace on Tuesday.

SPOKANE — Greyden Lee had two goals and an assist, Jacob Janzen had a goal and two assists, and the Timberwolves beat the Dragons in a nonleague match.
“St. George’s is a smaller school, so kudos to them for the amount of quality combination plays and shots they put together,” Lake City coach Alan Rich said. “Our boys defended well, generated a lot of quality opportunities and created a lot of chances that we were able to finish. All-in-all, we are playing well together and are really coming together as a team.”
Lake City (4-0) hosts Lewiston at the Irma Anderl Soccer Complex on Monday.
