Lake City girls drop tight one to G-Prep

SPOKANE — Chloe Teets scored on an assist from Hannah Clarke to even the score at 1-1 for Lake City in the 21st minute, but a goal by Chelsea Le in the 31st minute — her second of the game — was the difference as the Gonzaga Prep Bullpups edged the Timberwolves 2-1 in a nonleague match at Gonzaga Prep on Tuesday night.
“It was a very even game,” Lake City coach Matt Ruchti said. “Gonzaga Prep has a couple of dangerous players and Chelsea scored a couple of goals. We just couldn’t find the equalizer. It was really the tale of two halves, as we were on our heels a little in the first half, but had the run of play in the second. I thought we responded really well in the second half, but just couldn’t find the equalizer.”
Lake City (3-1) hosts Lewis and Clark of Spokane on Friday at the Irma Anderl Soccer Complex.

COEUR d’ALENE — Keaton Murphree recorded a hat trick to lead the Timberwolves past the Bears in a nonleague match at the Irma Anderl Soccer Complex.
“We were more organzied defensively and held our shape better in the midfield than our previous game last week (at Moscow on Aug. 28), which was positive,” Lake City coach Alan Rich said. “Moscow scored first, but this team never gives up, so it was great to see them rally with four unanswered goals. Moscow always plays us tough, so I’m pleased with the result.”
