A big thanks to Home Depot

I would like to use your newspaper today, if you don’t mind, as a platform to heap praises and accolades upon the Coeur d’Alene Home Depot Store #1803.

A team of wonderful volunteers from Home Depot chose the American Legion Post 143 for their project. Little did I know when I responded to their offer to help that our Post would receive such an amazing amount of repairs and updates to our building from this talented and gracious team of volunteers.

We started by simply requesting that they stain our pergola and picnic tables since these are used extensively by both the veterans and members of our Post, but also by the public, who utilize our building and attend our events. They then added mulch in all the gardens that surround our building, provided some needed shelving units for our storage room complete with plastic bins to organize, gave us a shop vacuum, plus bought (and left) all the supplies needed to stain (drop cloths, paint brushes and rollers, plastic sheeting, etc).

In addition, they bought extra stain for us to re-stain the decorative wood that embellishes our doorways and building ends when we can get a lift and professional painter to do that precarious job. This staining was absolutely vital to our Post being able to keep our pergola and tables, and we had been trying to save the money to do it.

The Home Depot calling us was an answer to prayers. Now our building looks absolutely fabulous and we couldn’t be happier!

From all the members of the American Legion’s Steven H. Nipp Post #143, we send a heartfelt and emphatic THANK YOU to the Home Depot Store #1803 volunteer team. We invite the community to come by and see our beautiful Post, and implore everyone to thank your local Home Depot for their strong support of its community and the veterans within it.
