Museum of North Idaho prepares for end of season with free day

Oct. 27 will be the last Saturday of this season that the Museum of North Idaho will be open. Admission is free, and the Museum will be open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The exhibit hall closes Oct. 31 and reopens April 2.

The Museum is celebrating its 50th anniversary with the feature exhibit Keeping History Alive. The exhibit showcases some of the Museum’s favorite artifacts and the importance of collecting and preserving our region’s history.

The Museum Store has a great selection of Christmas gifts, including regional and kid’s books, Idaho and Harrison calendars, Idaho silver and garnet jewelry, wine glasses and coffee mugs featuring the Fort Sherman Chapel and Rosemaling by local artist Ginny Brown.

The Museum of North Idaho is located adjacent to Coeur d’Alene City Park at 115 Northwest Blvd. Museum hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., through Oct. 31. A free one-hour parking pass can be requested at the Museum desk.

Regular admission is $4 for adults; $1 for children 6-16, younger than 6 free; and a family rate of $10 for two adults and children younger than 16. Members are admitted free. Please consider supporting local history by becoming a member of the Museum of North Idaho.

The Museum of North Idaho serves as the regional repository for historical materials of Kootenai, Benewah and Shoshone counties. A research library houses archival materials, books and more than 35,000 photographs, and is available by appointment year-round.
