Amy Jo Barron

December 24, 1972 — September 28, 2018

Amy Jo Barron, beloved daughter, sister, mother, cousin and niece, passed away on Sept. 28, 2018, after a brave battle with cancer. Amy was born on Dec. 24, 1972, to Linda Bellows and Jim Barron in Scobey, Mont. Linda was preparing a traditional Christmas meal of Lutefisk when Amy made it clear she was ready to join the family. Linda swears it was because she disliked the Lutefisk so much that she refused to allow her mom to indulge in it. With her arrival, Amy joined big brother, Jamie and the two became like two peas in a pod until Amy’s last breath. Five years later, baby sister, Angela joined the family and they all lived on the family farm in Flaxville, Mont.

Amy attended school in Flaxville until she was 13, when they moved to Great Falls and Conrad, Montana. In 1987 Linda married Mike Bellows and the newly formed family moved to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, where Amy graduated from high school in 1991. Amy moved to New York and became a nanny before deciding that she wanted to become a Dead Head and follow the Grateful Dead all over the U.S. for three years in a VW van.

In 1995 Amy gave birth to the love of her life, Forrest Barron, and decided it was time to return home and attend college at Montana State University. Amy graduated in 2000 as an LPN. After graduation, she returned to Coeur d’Alene and began her career at Tekoa Care Center in Tekoa, Wash., where she met and married Gregg Nelson. After losing their home in a fire, the little family purchased a 5th wheel and traveled to Carlin, Nev., where they settled down and Amy went to work for Genesis Home Health and later at the Highland Manor. Amy loved her small community in Carlin, and they loved her back.

Amy always loved exploring new recipes, cooking and canning, camping and fishing, gambling, garage sales, old dishes, bunco, music and taking long road trips with family and friends.

Amy was preceded in death by her grandparents, Everett and Marie Barron, Edmond “Red” Doucette and Alfhild “Allie” and Charles Smith. She is survived by parents, Linda and Mike Bellows; father, Jim Barron; her pride and joy, son Forrest and his fiancée, Amanda, and her son, JC; brother, Jamie (Jedda); sister, Angela (Carl) Barron Hosking; step-siblings, Keith (Sandra) Bellows, Kimmett (Amber) Bellows and Yvonne (Miles) Dean; many special nieces; nephews; cousins; aunties; uncles and godmother, Kathy Buck. Amy also left behind her very special friend, Marlo Solvenson, who never left her side until the very end.

Amy never met a stranger and she was always up for a good laugh, a playful moment and silly teasing. Her laugh was so infectious that she could brighten the darkest day. She was always a strong and independent woman who took the bull by the horns throughout her life and fought the good fight until her last moment. DAMN YOU CANCER!

To celebrate our wonderful Amy there are two potluck celebrations of life planned. At 5 p.m. on Oct. 5, 2018, at Cee Gee’s in Carlin, Nev., please bring your favorite dish, recipe and memories. At 1 p.m. on Oct. 19, 2018, we will gather at Broadmore Park, 2691 W. Broadmore Drive, in Hayden, Idaho. All are welcome to bring a favorite dish, recipe, a chair and a memory. In case of bad weather or for information on the Hayden service, please call 208-755-6149.

Amy’s family would like to thank everyone who loved Amy and supported her through her battle. Amy loved each and every one of you.
