The Dockter is in as Timberlake advances
RATHDRUM — Battling into the second overtime, Timberlake junior Kaylee Dockter found herself in the right place at the right time.
Thanks to that, the Tigers find themselves in some familiar territory.
Dockter took control of the ball from 18 yards out, scoring the game-winner in the second overtime to send the Tigers past the St. Maries Lumberjacks 2-1 in a 3A District 1-2 semifinal match at Sunrise Rotary Field on Thursday.
“She was in the right place at the right time,” Timberlake coach Steve Michael said. “She put a good foot and good follow on the ball, and put it into the back of the net.”
Timberlake (11-4-1) advances to state for the fifth straight season and will face Coeur d’Alene Charter in the district title match on Saturday.
St. Maries finishes 8-5-2.
“St. Maries gave us a game that I don’t think we were prepared for,” Michael said. “We had to overcome some challenges. To get out of this with a win, it’s a huge bonus, but I’m not happy with how we played. Hopefully we can play better on Saturday against Charter.”
Timberlake and Coeur d’Alene Charter will meet for the district title for the fifth straight season. Timberlake won in 2014 and ’15, and Charter won the last two years.

RATHDRUM — Elizabeth Lehosit scored a hat trick in the game’s first 17 minutes as the top-seeded Panthers beat the fifth-seeded Spartans in a 3A District 1-2 tournament semifinal game at Sunrise Rotary Field.
Sarah Hines also had a hat trick for Coeur d’Alene Charter (17-0), which plays Timberlake on Saturday at 10 a.m. in the championship match.
“We are happy that with today’s result we’ve secured a berth to state and get a chance to play for another district title,” Charter coach Stacy Smith said. “We’re looking forward to Saturday’s championship game.”
The Panthers, the two-time defending state champions, clinched their sixth straight trip to state.
