ENGLISH: For state Senate

| October 12, 2018 1:00 AM

In a recent column in the Coeur d’Alene Press, Chuck Malloy reports that District 4 State Sen. Mary Souza “as with other Republicans, says Idaho is on the right track with education.”

I have lived in Coeur d’Alene for more than 40 years and in all that time, Idaho has always placed at the bottom in education compared to the other 49 states.

Quality Counts 2018: Grading the states, a nationwide ranking that measures students’ chance for success, school finance and K-12 achievement, ranked Idaho a solid 46 overall with a grade of D. We may be “on the right track,” but we are moving way too slowly!

Cory English, who is running on the ballot as Ms. Souza’s opponent, believes that our first consideration as a state should be to find the best policies and the best practices in order to have the best outcomes for Idaho’s kids. We don’t accept Ds from our kids and we shouldn’t accept Ds from our Legislature. A vote for Cory English is a vote for Idaho’s kids.
