3Cs to kick-start craft fair season Oct. 20

Those generous gals of Cancer and Community Charities are at it again! This time, join them at the Coeur d’Alene Boys and Girls Club on Oct. 20 to kick off the holiday shopping season with the second 3Cs Craft Fair and Bake Sale.
From 9-3, the club will be filled with wares and goods made by local artisans and crafters, along with baked goods and beverages. Knitted and crocheted items, seasonal and holiday wreaths, tole-painted home decor, handspun woolen wares, woodcrafts, gift baskets, clothing and purses, soaps, candles, chocolates and more will be available to get you started with your holiday shopping.
Marjorie Smith Peak will be selling her much-coveted, whimsical and seasonal wreaths. She has been a 3Cs member for more than 31 years and has served as past president.
You can also browse the booth of a local 11-year-old who will be selling and displaying her own handspun fiber crafts.
“I’ve gone out this year and pretty much hand-picked the vendors trying to get a group of good quality booths. I went to craft show after craft show, starting back in February,” said event chair Suzi Wong, noting that it has been time-consuming but fun.
After last year’s success with their first craft fair, the 3Cs hope to continue this fundraising endeavor. Plans are in the works for another craft sale next year, which will follow their Spring Fashion Show fundraiser in early May.
All proceeds from admission costs, booth fees and the bake sale will be granted to nonprofits and charities within Kootenai County. 3Cs has donated more than $2 million since it began in 1962, and recently gave away $115,350 that was raised this past year.
Admission to the sale is $2. Booth cost is $45 for a 10x10 space, and vendors are responsible for their own tables and displays.
