VOTERS: Pick a party

| October 10, 2018 1:00 AM

Our nation is in serious trouble because we have gotten away from the constitutional government our founders gave us. They gave us three branches of government: the legislative branch (to make laws), the executive branch (to enforce laws), and the judicial branch (to give opinion — no real power). They were to “check and balance” each other.

Today the branches are either not exercising their checking power or assuming power of another branch: the legislative and executive are not checking the judicial, the executive is not enforcing laws with which judges disagree, and the judicial has usurped legislative activity.

Today we have a fourth branch of unelected people making laws. Agencies like the IRS, HHS, EPA, Labor, Agriculture, and Education make rules (laws) not constitutionally passed. These agencies provide their own enforcement, and if anyone objects they also judge the case.

It is here that the shadow government, the deep state, resides. Its members are unelected — they can’t be voted out of office. Originally the “spoils system” allowed a new president to appoint a cabinet in accordance with his philosophy.

If we want to return to constitutional government, we must elect people who will work toward that. The two parties are diametrically opposed: Government control or individual responsibility? Unrestricted abortion or sanctity of life? Government control of business or entrepreneurial freedom? Etc.

Do a web-search for “difference between Democrats and Republicans” or just go to https://www.diffen.com/difference/Democrat_vs_Republican. Decide which party most closely supports your views and vote accordingly.
