Joseph L. Lopez Sr., 76

Joseph L. Lopez Sr. did his time and punched his final time clock on Oct. 3, 2018, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. He was born in Phoenix, Ariz., in 1942 and moved to North Idaho in 1977, where he lived in the same home with his wife and family for 41 years. He loved his family and adored his grandkids with all of his heart, so much so, that it finally gave out.

He loved sports and enjoyed fishing and is best known in the softball community as “Big Joe” or “Papa Joe,” and was the “treat Grandpa” at all his grandkids games. Joe had a wonderful sense of humor and found joy in making others laugh. He was a kind and giving man who greeted everyone with a smile. He lived a good life, but most importantly, he was a good man who was loved and respected.

He has gone home to God, his Mom, Dad and some of his siblings. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Paula; daughter, Patricia Lopez; sons, Joseph L. Lopez Jr. and Gabriel Lopez; grandchildren, Isabell, Aaliyah, Gabe Jr. and Tabitha Lopez. We love you, Tata!

“Rest easy, my Old Man. You did your job as a son, brother, husband, father, Tata and friend. We will carry on from here and honor the good name you left us. May God have mercy on His soul.”

A viewing is scheduled from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 11, 2018, at Yates Funeral Home — Coeur d’Alene Chapel, 744 N. Fourth St., Coeur d’Alene, ID.
