CDA: A URD proposal

Urban renewal is urgently needed in northeast Coeur d’Alene. Dairy Queen, Burger King and Taco Time are all closed now. Government Way to Best Avenue and Fourth Street to I-90 has empty buildings, a large empty lot for sale, old Chelsea’s building (built in 1945 approximately, should be torn down) and most of the area just looks shabby in general.

Coeur d’Alene has improved many other rundown areas; this area has great potential. Verizon did a wonderful job rehabilitating the old Godfather’s Pizza building, which sat empty for years. A beautiful park in the empty lot next to Dairy Queen would be a great beginning, and perhaps income-based housing could be considered.
