The suspect in a Spokane Valley shooting whom detectives believe fled in a car with Kootenai County license plates was arrested Tuesday night.
Matthias M. Piggot, 37, Spokane, was arrested and booked into the Spokane County Jail for first-degree assault and first-degree unlawful possession of a firearm.
"Piggot was located at a residence near Felts and Mission in Spokane Valley," said Deputy Mark Gregory of the Spokane County Sheriff's Office, adding that the suspect was safely taken into custody.
The victim was transported to a hospital with what appears to be a non-life-threatening injury after the incident just before noon Tuesday in front of an apartment building on Third Avenue in Spokane Valley.
After the shooting, the SCSO issued a photo of a four-door 2013 Chevrolet Impala with Kootenai County plates that investigators believe Piggot fled in.
"It belongs to an acquaintance of Piggot and it was found at a different address (than where Piggot was located) in the city of Spokane," said Gregory, adding that the Impala was not stolen.
Gregory said investigators learned that Piggot knows the adult male victim and that they were involved in a dispute when Piggot pulled a handgun, shot him in the arm and fled the scene.
