Kellogg downs Shadle Park

KELLOGG — Sammy Seymour had 17 points and seven rebounds and Hailey Cheney scored 19 points, leading the Kellogg Wildcats to a 66-48 nonleague win over the Shadle Park Highlanders at Andrews Gymnasium on Wednesday.

“We played pretty good defense and ran the floor really well,” Kellogg coach Jana Nearing-Kothe said. “We got some good looks at the basket and played really consistent tonight.”

Jaron Figueroa had six points and six assists for Kellogg (4-1), which hosts Lakeland on Tuesday.

Izzy Boring scored 14 points for Shadle Park.

SPOKANE — Jenna Gardiner and Dylan Lovett scored nine points each for the Trojans in a nonleague loss to the Tigers.

“They’re bigger, stronger and faster than we are,” Post Falls coach Marc Allert said. “They’re a more physical team and took us out of what we wanted to do. They were playing big girl basketball, and we got a lesson tonight.”

Jacinta Buckley, who signed a letter of intent to play at UNLV on Nov. 14, scored 27 points for Lewis & Clark.

“She’s really good, and we had no answer for her,” said Allert of Buckley. “They’re a very good team.”

Post Falls (1-3) hosts Richland on Saturday.

KELLOGG — Graden Nearing scored 14 points for the Wildcats in a season-opening loss to the Highlanders at Andrews Gymnasium.

Raiden Rickets added 10 points for Kellogg, which faces Timberlake on Friday at 5:30 p.m. in the opening game of the Silver Valley Tournament at Kirby Krulitz Court in Wallace.

Jake Groves scored 23 points and DaMarius Brown added 20 points for Shadle Park of the Greater Spokane League.
