Memorial service for Eugene “Gene” J. Malvino, age 85, of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, 2018, at Yates Funeral Home, 744 N. Fourth St. in Coeur d’Alene. Gene J. Malvino, 85, passed away at his home in Coeur d’Alene on Nov. 1, 2018. He was born in Santa Rosa, Calif., to Eugene and Julia Malvino; the grandson of proud Italian immigrants, Massimo and Gemma Galeazzi. Gene attended UC Davis and St. Mary’s College, where he received his bachelor’s and master’s degree in international business and marketing. He was also a doctoral candidate at Southeastern Nova University earning an ABD.

His early career was spent working alongside his father at Malvino Painting Co. and he later owned Malvino Painting & Decorating before embarking on his teaching career. He taught at Santa Rosa Junior College and Edmonds and Bellevue Community Colleges in Washington state, before retiring to Coeur d’Alene.

Gene is survived by his wife, Kathrin Malvino; his sister, Marilyn (Richard) Hunter; his eight children: Michael (Judy), Melissa (Greg), Marc, Marion (Carl), Mari, Marisa, Matthew (Teri) and Mario; along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
