BUSTED: Letter too long
I read Sunday’s Press, including the letters from the citizenry. One thing jumped out at me immediately; the letter from Dan Gookin appeared to exceed your 250 word limit. After reading his great letter, I counted the 342 words in his narrative.
Now I have submitted numerous letters for print, a couple of which exceeded the 250 word limit. Those letters were not printed, even though I had requested a different forum such as an “Opinion” piece or other that we often see in the paper. My letters were of subject matter not properly represented in 250 words, yet the response is “Sorry, we have to be consistent and fair to everyone.”
Well, sir, I guess this policy only applies to us “peasants” and not the “aristocrats” of government and political persuasion. Favoritism? Hypocrisy? I report, you decide… There, less than 175 words!
