COEUR d’ALENE — Be sure to rest up after the Black Friday frenzy, because you won't want to miss the 32nd annual Coeur d'Alene Resort Holiday Light Show and 27th annual Lighting Ceremony Parade on Friday evening in downtown Coeur d'Alene.

The holiday fireworks show, presented by Duane and Lola Hagadone and their family, will be the biggest one yet.

"The lighting ceremony has always been an important event for the Hagadone family,” Hagadone Corp. President Brad Hagadone said in a press release.

"It’s a tradition we enjoy providing to the community to kick off the Coeur d’Alene holiday season. We invite local residents to bring their family and friends and join us for this special once-a-year gathering. We promise this year’s event will be bigger than ever.”

The Coeur d'Alene Downtown Association's Lighting Ceremony Parade begins at 5 p.m. on Sherman Avenue at Eighth Street. This year's theme is "Winter Wonderland."

With 45 entries, this year's holiday parade is also the biggest to date. Marching bands, festive floats and other parade participants will dazzle and dance west along Sherman toward Northwest Boulevard.

At 6 p.m. following the parade, all are welcome to gather on The Coeur d'Alene Resort lawn to sing Christmas carols and enjoy The Resort Holiday Light Show and fireworks display. More than 1.5 million lights and more than 250 displays will light up the night.

Brad Hagadone will host the ceremony and the guest of honor will be John Eloe, director of facilities for the Hagadone Corp. Eloe was instrumental in The Coeur d’Alene Resort renovations completed earlier this year, and also in setting up the Holiday Light Show displays every year since he started with the company in 2006. He has been with the company for more than 12 years.

Then, 4,669 shells will explode over the lake and the lights will go on, officially ringing in the 2018 holiday season in North Idaho.
