LOCKDOWN: Parental peril

| November 14, 2018 12:00 AM

Regarding the lockdown at Lake City High School on Oct. 31, my concern is a high-speed trip by Georgi Brown, quoted as, “I came down the freeway 100 mph” to see her son.

How fast was she going on the side streets and did she run through stop signs and signals in her haste? Did she realize that she endangered herself and other drivers, pedestrians? Her son may have never seen his mother again if there had been a serious accident due to her emotions taking over her common sense.

I would recommend some protocol and communication between parents and the school for future lock down situations. Law enforcement doesn’t need to be hindered by well-intended parents. I am a parent and a grandparent and I am well aware of Georgi Brown’s concern for her child. However, what would happen if 10 or 100 parents did the same thing around the same time? There would be more chaos on the freeway and streets than at the school.
