Human remains found at construction site

Contractors preparing a site for new construction in Coeur d’Alene uncovered bones determined to be human.

Police in Coeur d’Alene said the bones were discovered Tuesday afternoon at the site in the 800 block of Mullan Avenue, not far from the Coeur d’Alene Public Library.

Detectives and officers responded and with the assistance of the coroner, confirmed the bones are human.

Detectives will be processing the scene for the next couple of days.

Police are asking citizens to avoid the area of Mullan Avenue between Eighth and Ninth streets as they will be closed until detectives have cleared the scene.

This is an active investigation and updates will be given as information develops.
