CROSS COUNTRY

District Junior Olympic champs: USA Track and Field held its Inland Northwest Association Junior Olympic Cross Country Championships on Saturday in Yakima, Wash. Attending were 167 racers from Yakima, Tri-Cities, Spokane and North Idaho, who competed at Franklin Park.

Coached by Erin Lydon Hart, 36 of her North Idaho Cross Country (NIXC) athletes ages 8-15 competed in distances from 2,000 to 5,000 meters.

NIXC runners placing first in their age group were (race times following names):

Girls Under 8 (2,000 meters): Paisley Ray (8:55.10)

Boys Under 8 (2,000 meters): Rowan Henry (7:52.20)

Girls Ages 9-10 (3,000 meters): Helen Oyler (12:02.80)

Boys Ages 9-10 (3,000 meters): Mitchell Rietze (10:47.20)

Boys Ages 11-12 (3,000 meters): Max Cervi-Skinner (10:06.50)

Boys Ages 13-14 (4,000 meters): Max Bazler (14:16.70)

All NIXC athletes qualified to compete in the USATF Pacific Northwest XC Championships to be held in Yakima this Saturday. The top 35 runners per age group from Idaho, Washington, Oregon and Alaska will advance to compete at the national championships to be held in Reno, Nev., on Dec. 8.

Timbers North FC Boys 06 Red: The Timbers traveled to Seattle this past weekend. On Saturday they beat Eastside FC B06 Grey D 4-0 in Preston, Wash. Haidyn Jonas and Kai Delio each had 2 goals. Brayden Ristic and Connor Jump each had 1 assist. Braden Latscha was in goal for the shutout.

On Sunday they played Whatcom FC Rangers B06 Blue in Bellingham, Wash., and tied 1-1. Connor Jump scored the Timbers’ goal. Braden Latscha was in goal for the Timbers.
