Post power pushes Lake City past Moscow

| November 10, 2018 12:00 AM

MOSCOW — It was kind of as Lake City coach James Anderson envisioned it to open his second season as coach.

Two 6-foot-3 posts — Sarah Muehlhausen and Brooklyn Rewers — working together to find some success on the court.

Muehlhausen scored 17 points and Rewers had 16 points and 10 rebounds, leading the Timberwolves past the Moscow Bears 61-23 in the season opener for both schools at Bear Den on Friday.

“We came out with a lot of nerves and weren’t making the right reads,” said Anderson, whose team led 10-8 after the first quarter before outscoring the Bears 51-14 in the final three quarters. “We started to get the ball where it needed to be. Sarah and Brooklyn were a great tandem tonight and did a great job of working in the post together. It was kind of how we envisioned it.”

Klaire Mitchell had six points and five steals, Bridget Rieken six points and five steals for Lake City, which travels to Boise next Friday.

Megan Jung scored eight points for Moscow.
