DEMOCRATS: A Republican view

| November 9, 2018 12:00 AM

The Democratic Party is not what it used to be:

1) defenders of blue collar workers

2) defenders of First Amendment rights for all, not just for left wing loons

3) supporters of a strong military

4) believers of Kennedy’s words, written incidentally by his speech writer, Ted Sorensen, “Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country.”

Remember when Republican and Democrat leaders could be civil, even though they politically disagreed? Think Tip O’Neal playing poker with Ronald Reagan.

Our Founding Fathers did not create the Constitution in a vacuum. They ruled on an understanding of the writings of Burke, Descartes, Voltaire, etc.

Voltaire famously said that: “I may not agree with what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.” That was the foundation of our First Amendment.

Today’s Democratic Party has drifted so far to the left that conservative speech is called “hate speech,” which can’t be allowed. They encourage fellow Democrats not to be civil. They don’t recognize election results unless their candidate wins.

The list goes on, but the Democratic Party represents everything traditional Americans are against.
