Montana (7-8-6), champions of the Big Sky Conference tournament with three shutout victories in the tournament, open the NCAA Tournament on Friday against Washington State in Pullman at 7 p.m.

Wendlandt, a junior forward from Lake City High, has scored 19 points (nine goals, one assist) for the Bears (17-5), who open the NCAA Tournament on Saturday against Abilene Christian in Waco, Texas.

Hedge, a redshirt junior from Post Falls High, was named the West Coast Conference Player of the Year, the conference announced on Tuesday. Hedge is the 11th Bronco to take home playoer of the year and first since the Broncos had back-to-back winners in 2014 (Sofia Huerta) and 2013 (Julie Johnston). Hedge finished second on the team with seven goals while adding two assists and starting all but one game. During conference play, she led the team with six goals, scoring all six in a span of five matches. Santa Clara (16-3-1) hosts Milwaukee in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament on Saturday.

Bassett, a junior defender from Coeur d’Alene High, was named Cascade Collegiate Conference Defensive Player of the Year after the Mountaineers allowed 12 goals in 16 games this season. Eastern Oregon (14-1-2) faces Rocky Mountain in the Cascade Conference tournament today in La Grande, Ore.
