Library Milestones Series will present programs tonight and Nov. 29
COEUR d’ALENE — The Inland Northwest Milestone Series, sponsored by the Museum of North Idaho and the Coeur d’Alene Public Library, will present two programs this month.
The series will be presented by historian Robert Singletary and is based on his upcoming book, "Coeur d’Alene: Beautiful and Progressive.”
This evening's presentation will be about the early 1900s timber boom, which created a period of tremendous growth in Coeur d’Alene. The population grew from 507 to almost 8,000 in less than 10 years. It was during this period that Coeur d’Alene became the county seat and developed into a major tourist center featuring steamboat excursions on Lake Coeur d’Alene.
During the Nov. 29 program, Singletary will discuss the dynamic 1920s.
The programs start at 7 p.m. and will be held in the library’s Community Room. Both programs are free to the public.
