Cheer on the superstars at NIC this evening
COEUR d’ALENE — Specialized Needs Recreation is hosting the seventh annual Special Needs Basketball Extravaganza at North Idaho College this evening.
The games will be held in NIC's Christianson Gymnasium, with the first one at 5:45 p.m. and the second one at 7 p.m.
The extravaganza is a free event that gives SNR's special needs athletes a time to shine and showcase their basketball skills for friends, family and the community.
"Come celebrate the spirit of special needs athletes and partake in the joy of sport during our seventh annual Basketball Extravaganza," said SNR administrative director Jennifer Fullerton. "Our vision is to create a community where each child born with a disability is given the support necessary to participate fully in life. Hearing your cheers from the grandstands will create a real life 'superstar' moment for these athletes."
SNR is a nonprofit that provides a variety of recreation programs for special needs youths and adults who have challenges participating in other programs because of a learning disability, sensory impairment, mental, emotional or physical handicap.
The Christianson Gym is located on the west side of the NIC campus just south of the Edminster Student Union Building.
