Lakes Middle School student arrested for falsely reporting threats
COEUR d’ALENE — A Lakes Middle School student was arrested on Thursday for allegedly making a false report of a school threat earlier in the day.
The student is subject to school district discipline and faces criminal charges for making threats on school grounds and false reporting to law enforcement.
“The Coeur d’Alene Police Department and Lakes Middle School administration immediately investigated the student’s account and quickly determined the student had fabricated the report,” a Coeur d’Alene Police press release states. “There was no threat made against Lakes Middle School.”
Police encourage students to immediately report any potential threat or suspicious behavior.
“However, the school district and law enforcement will not tolerate pranks, hoaxes or false reports,” the press release states. “Those found responsible for such acts will be held accountable.”
