Wendlandt, a junior from Lake City High, scored the lone goal of Thursday’s match against Oklahoma in Waco, Texas — her ninth of the season — to give the Bears (15-4-0, 8-1-0 Big 12) the conference championship, their first since 1998. On Tuesday, Wendlandt was named to the all-Big 12 Conference second team, posting a team-high and a career-high in goals with nine, points (19) and game-winning goals with five. Wendlandt scored goals in each of the last four conference matches, and all five Big 12 home matches this season. It is her first selection in two years at Baylor.

Swallow, a 5-foot-8, 150-pound sophomore midfielder from Lake City High, was the only player in the Division II Great Northwest Athletic Conference to finish with a perfect 4.0 grade point average when the conference’s Academic All-Star team was announced last week. Swallow had two goals and one assist in 14 starts for the Falcons, who finished 8-10 this season.

Idaho cross country
Story, a junior from Coeur d’Alene High, finished third in the Big Sky Championships, finishing in 16 minutes, 44.9 seconds for the Vandals, who finished fourth as a team in the event at Haggin Oaks Golf Course on Oct. 27 in Sacramento, Calif. The site will also host the West Regional Championships on Nov. 9.
