After 63 years downtown, Camera Corral Digital Photo Lab is moving to Suite 109 of Harbor Plaza on Northwest Boulevard. The official address is the former location of Cafe Soul at 610 W. Hubbard St.

Camera Corral offers retail sales of Canon and Nikon equipment, digital cameras, lenses, flashes, accessories, tripods, camera bags, studio lighting, digital media, film and used camera equipment.

Among the services offered are scanning of film, slides and photos; processing and printing of film; large-scale printing, mounting of photos and canvas printing; digital retouching of damaged photos; video transfer and camera repair services; one-on-one camera and photoshop classes; and passport and international visa photos.

Established in 1955 on Fourth Street by David “Duke” Riglin and Tyke VanDellen, Camera Corral moved to 515 E. Sherman in 1982. Dan Dolezel moved to Coeur d’Alene from Libby, Mont., where he had The Lighthouse Camera Store, and bought Camera Corral in 1988. Manager Celeste K-Meurlott joined the staff of 13 in 2005, and sales associates-photographer are Jessica Schraner and Mark Addy.

“The Camera Corral provides a much needed service in the new digital age but holds on to the roots of the film world as well,” K-Meurlott said.

Hours are 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. weekdays and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays. Phone 208-664-2420. Check www.cameracorral.com.

515 Sherman building was built about 1900

The historical building at 515 Sherman Ave. was built about 1900 and was Commercial Printing with Mac MacClain. Among other businesses over the years, it was a women’s apparel store called The Gay Shop and a Goodwill store. It’s always had three apartments upstairs.

The WidmyerCorp. has purchased the building with a major remodel planned. Possibilities are a German-style restaurant with patio seating in the back. The upstairs will have four modern efficiency apartments.

Red Label Shoes to open in Riverbend

A liquidation footwear store offering a boutique experience, Red Label Shoes will open soon at 4065 W. Riverbend Ave. west of Post Falls (southeast side of the old Factory Outlet Mall).

Options include shoes of various price ranges with trained employees helping find the correct size. New vintage shoes were found in an abandoned warehouse and summer choices include a huge sandal and flipflop selection.

Accessories include backpacks, hats, purses, tote bags and wallets. A 10 percent discount is offered to military, police, firefighters, EMTs and teachers.

Owners Jacob Garcia and Eric Campbell are joined by Tina Campbell, general manager, and Amy Moldenhauer, assistant manager.

Hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Fridays and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturdays. Check Facebook.

- The times they are a’changin’

From the Associated Press Stylebook of 2018: Flyer is the preferred term for a person flying in an aircraft and for handbills: He used his frequent flyer miles; they put up flyers announcing the show. Use flier in the phrase take a flier, meaning to take a big risk.

From the AP Stylebook in 2011: Flier is the preferred term for an aviator or handbill. Flyer is the preferred name of same trains and buses such as The Western Flyer.

As usual, AP continues its spineless tradition of “If you can’t beat ’em, join ’em.”
