TRUMP: Constitutional lesson

| May 9, 2018 1:00 AM

Is anyone else bothered by the comments that President Trump made at his Michigan rally on April 28, that if anyone in the caravan is allowed to enter the USA, they will fade into our society and vote in our elections as Democrats?

What concerns me is that our president is not familiar with the Constitution. The 26th Amendment provides, “The right of citizens of the United States, who are 18 years of age or older, to vote, shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or any state on account of age.” It prohibits states from discriminating among voters based on age, for people who are at least 18 years old, and grants Congress power to “enforce” that prohibition through “appropriate legislation.”

Note it states citizens are entitled to vote. If undocumented people are voting, then it is the failure of the local election boards for not ascertaining that the person registering is a citizen. Secondly, how do you know they are voting Democrat? Our voting is secret.
