BROOKS: Constituents' champion

I would venture to say that at one time or another, we all have benefited from the Consumer Guy’s bi-weekly columns in The Press. He has quite unselfishly and endlessly devoted himself and his time to ensuring that we are informed and knowledgeable about the numerous scam artists who seem to abound in today’s society. Whether it has been fraudulent phone calls from a distant foreign country or unscrupulous business practices, Bill Brooks has always been there to strongly assist, educate and guide us through the difficult process.

It is now time to send him on his way to his next journey and support him in his bid for County Commissioner. I first became acquainted with Bill due to our common profession of real estate (I’m a retired Realtor). I quickly recognized a man of superior integrity, strength of character and determination to get things accomplished — not just a talker. This impressed me tremendously, because I want the truth in a timely fashion and with accuracy based on facts. He’s a no-nonsense guy. Being Realtors, we both strongly understand and agree on property owners’ values and rights. We both acknowledge the fine line between limited government and the government’s role in protecting a citizen’s rights.

His approach to solving problems is simple: common sense, rule of law, fairness — coupled with compassion for the problem at hand. The fact that he served our country during the Vietnam era and is a true patriot is just one more reason for support. I hope you join me and vote for Bill Brooks. Remember, he’s on our side; let’s be on his!
