Courtesy photo Junior softball player Bailey “Bubba” Gleaves is this week’s Post Falls High School Athlete of the Week. In five games last week, Gleaves had 15 at bats with 11 hits (5 singles, 5 doubles, 1 HR), 9 RBIs, and 6 runs scored for a .733 batting average.

Courtesy photo The Sting Timbers FC Girls 04 soccer team headed to Seattle to play in the semifinals of the Washington Cup tournament on April 28. The Timbers played the west Flight B winner Rainier Soccer Alliance G04 Gold, and held them scoreless, winning 3-0 at South Sound High School in Lacey, Wash. Kayla Dearmin had the first goal, with an assist by Gabby Roberts. Olivia Wyatt then scored two quick goals, one on a breakaway, the other off a Kayla Dearmin pass. Danika Nowak had the shutout in goal. This win advanced them to the Bronze Division championship game, played against Endeavor Soccer Academy G04 Wallace, from Moses Lake. The teams went scoreless in regulation play, as well as the two overtime periods, finally culminating in a shootout. The shootout went seven rounds, and the Timbers came up short, 4-3, to finish in second place. Courtesy photo On Saturday evening, the Sting Timbers FC B06 Red played in the Washington Cup semifinals and beat Seattle Celtic B06 3-1. Kason Pintler had 2 goals for the Sting. Haidyn Jonas had 1 goal and 1 assist. Connor Jump had 1 assist. Braden Latscha was in goal for STFC. In the finals on Sunday afternoon, the Sting Timbers FC B06 took 2nd place in the Washington Cup Final, losing 2-1 against Nortac Sparta B06. Haidyn Jonas had the lone Sting goal. Courtesy photo The Renovators under-18 volleyball team finished fifth in the gold bracket in the National division at the USA Volleyball U18 national tournament April 26-29 in Anaheim, Calif. The Renovators qualified through their Evergreen Region. There were four divisions at nationals — Open (36 teams), National (48 teams), USA (48 teams) and American (64 teams). It was the highest finish for a first-year club team in our region since 2005. Baseball/softball signups: Registration for Coeur d’Alene Recreation Department boys baseball and girls slowpitch softball for ages 5-13 is underway, and runs through May 24.

Games will be held Monday–Thursday evenings. Practices begin around June 11, and games begin the week of June 25. Registration is at the Coeur d’Alene City Hall, 710 Mullan Ave., between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Registration fee is $15 for city residents and $25 for non-city residents.

Sting Timbers FC 09 boys Green: The Sting won 3-2 against the Sting Timbers 08 black on April 21. Luke Fritts scored a hat trick for the Sting Green, and Ayden Garayalde had an assist.

Sting Timbers FC 02 Girls: The Sting beat Walla Walla United 3-1 on Saturday in Walla Walla, Wash. Madyson Smith scored 2 goals for Sting and Liz Scarlett scored one, assisted by Madyson Smith.

The Sting then traveled to Hermiston, Ore., for their second game of the day, and beat Hermiston United 2-0. Madyson Smith scored for Sting on a penalty kick and Cailyn Garza scored the second goal, assisted by Madyson Smith.

Sting Timbers FC 03 Girls: The Sting beat IEYSA G03 Storm FC 4-2 last Thursday in Spokane. Sting Timbers’ Kali McKellips had 2 goals, Amber Aittama 1 goal (assist by Kali McKellips), and Holly Hudson 1 goal.

The Sting beat SSC Shadow Elite G03 5-0 on Monday. Kali McKellips had 2 goals, Amber Aittama 1, Holly Hudson 1, and Kamryn Becker scored the final goal (assisted by Holly Hudson).
