GOP: Candidate priorities skewed

| May 2, 2018 1:00 AM

It’s tragic that in this country, someone must declare bankruptcy as a result of seeking medical care. It underscores the need for health care reform, but also showcases a lack of compassion from extremists on the GOP Central Committee.

One candidate declared bankruptcy as a result of a medical condition resulting from his service in Vietnam. Another flaunts a six-digit tax lien from the IRS. The first is vilified as potentially toxic to the county. The second is lauded and urged to work in the statehouse, where he’ll authorize spending of tax dollars collected from and paid by others.

If someone owes money to the IRS, it’s a choice they made. Yet, when a veteran has no choice, and because our great republic refuses to address the health care crises, he is pummeled and vilified by the very party of which he’s a member.

When will this lunacy stop?
