COEUR d’ALENE — Hailey Lyons and Kaylin Donovan each hit two-run homers in the first game as Coeur d’Alene, outscored by Lake City by a combined 24-0 in a doubleheader loss last week, stunned the Timberwolves 7-6 in nine innings in the first game of a 5A Inland Empire League twinbill Tuesday at Lake City High.

Lake City (17-4, 10-2 5A IEL), which had already clinched the league title, won the second game 7-2.

Reilley Chapman went 3 for 4 with a triple, two RBIs and two runs scored for the Timberwolves, and Reilly Williams hit a solo homer.

Coeur d’Alene is 6-16, 4-8.

On Tuesday at 2 p.m., Lake City will host No. 4 Post Falls, and No. 3 Coeur d’Alene will play No. 2 Lewiston. The winners will play at 4 at Lake City for the regional title and a trip to state.

On Thursday, Coeur d’Alene plays host to Moscow, and Lake City is home against Sandpoint.

MOSCOW — Riley Rivera finished the day with five hits, including her school-record seventh home run of the season, powering the Hawks to a 4A Inland Empire League sweep of the Bears.

With the wins, Lakeland (8-13, 6-2 4A IEL) tied Sandpoint for the league title. The Bulldogs and Hawks split their four league meetings, but Lakeland earned the tiebreaker based on run differential in the four games, and will host the 4A Region 1 tournament beginning next Tuesday at Lakeland High.

“We hit the ball really well as a team,” said Lakeland coach Colleen Bevacqua, whose team finished the twinbill with 27 hits. “We just put everything together and good things happened. I’m really proud of them.”

Taylor Woolley struck out seven in the opener and Ashtyn Howerton allowed one run in the nightcap for Lakeland.

“I’m really proud of Taylor,” Bevacqua said. “She threw the ball really well. Ashtyn did a great job on the mound for her first varsity outing. Overall, we played great as a team.”

Lakeland concludes the regular season with a doubleheader against visiting Clarkston on Thursday.

Moscow finished 0-8 in league.

LEWISTON — Kyndra Hans’ grand slam capped a five-run seventh inning as the Trojans rallied in the nightcap for the split with the Bengals in 5A IEL play at Airport Park.

Kelsey Horn hit a two-run single in the sixth for Post Falls (10-11, 4-8 5A IEL).

Kahlea Dumas went 2 for 4 with an RBI in each game for Post Falls.

Lewiston finished 6-6 in league and will be the No. 2 seed to next week’s 5A Region 1 tournament. On Tuesday at 2 p.m., the Bengals face No. 3 seed Coeur d’Alene, and No. 4 seed Post Falls plays at No. 1 Lake City. The winners play at 4 at Lake City for the regional title and a berth to state.

ST. MARIES — Paige Sines struck out 10 and the Lumberjacks (11-0) remained undefeated with the nonleague victory over the visiting Tigers.
