Sen. Souza turns the lights on

Two out of three ain’t bad.

Sen. Mary Souza, R-Coeur d’Alene, is the second Kootenai County-based senator to share her financial information with the public. Sen. Bob Nonini, also a Coeur d’Alene Republican, was the first. Only Sen. Steve Vick hasn’t turned the lights of disclosure on.

Over on the House side, the lack of transparency remains glaring. Rep. Paul Amador, R-Coeur d’Alene, is the only Kootenai County-based House member to have shared his financial information. The others haven’t, including: Rep. Luke Malek, Rep. Vito Barbieri, Rep. Don Cheatham, Rep. Ron Mendive and Rep. Eric Redman. They’re all Republicans, too.

So they can voluntarily shine the light on areas where possible conflicts of interest might arise, their financial disclosures would still be most welcome. They can be emailed to Mike Patrick: mpatrick@cdapress.com
