David Emmett, 66
John D. Emmett, known as David or Dave, has passed away. The lifelong North Idaho resident died suddenly in his home sometime between Friday evening, Feb. 23, and Monday morning, Feb. 26, 2018.
Gentle but stern, generous yet restrained, honest, trustworthy and caring to those he held dear. He is remembered as confident and hard-working; proudly the best at what he did. Industrious and knowledgeable, with a sure hand and keen eye, he was adept in many areas from carpentry to cooking whilst he made a living as a driver for Interstate Concrete and Asphalt. The man could do nearly anything with his hands (except navigate the latest technology, of course) and was quick to take the lead on most projects or handy work.
Over the years he enjoyed hunting and fishing with friends and extended family, weekend shop time with his closest friends, shooting skeet and trap with his dad, and NCIS marathons.
We will all miss his smile, however seen sparingly, and unmistakable roaring laugh. His sturdy presence now gone from this life has surely left a void in the hearts of those who loved him so.
David is survived by his two sons, Chad David and Tyler John, both of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; his sister, Charlene Emmett-Smith; and brother, George Emmett, both of Coeur d’Alene; two granddaughters, four nieces and numerous close friends who are much like brothers.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles “Bud” Emmett and his mother, Kathy Emmett. May they be reunited at last.
As per his wishes there will be no formal service and his remains will be cremated. Please join us in celebrating his life at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 10, 2018, at the Lakers Inn, 407 N. Second St., Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.
Yates Funeral Home is entrusted with final arrangements. Please visit David’s online memorial and sign his guest book at www.yatesfuneralhomes.com.
