Evamae Evans Kline, 92

Evamae passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family, following a short illness.

Evamae was born in Tacoma, Wash., to Herbert and Eva Stimpson. She spent most of her childhood in Tacoma. She attended the University of Washington pursuing a degree in architecture. During WWII she was a “Rosie the Riveter,” working at Boeing in the airplane drafting department.

She met the love of her life, Don Kline, at the Bremerton Officers Club. After a whirlwind courtship they were married Sept. 26, 1945. After the war, she worked at the college bookstore while Don was getting his accounting degree.

It wasn’t long before they started their family. While Dad’s career was taking off, Mom was a stay-at-home mom. With four little ones, she was working just as hard. Not wanting to raise us in the city, Daddy was looking for a work change to a smaller community. Dad was offered the position of comptroller by Duane Hagadone, so in 1962, the Kline family moved to small town Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.

Mom was very involved with anything her kids were doing. She was a Cub Scout leader, Campfire Girls leader and taught Sunday School and VBS. As a school mom, she went on every field trip and never missed a sporting event, or any event, that her kids were in.

After the kids were grown, she pursued her art, becoming an accomplished oil and watercolor artist. She also took time for golf and played on several leagues. Most every summer weekend you would find Mom and Daddy at “The Cabin” — their little piece of paradise.

Mom’s greatest joy was being Gaumie to her 11 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Mom was preceded in passing by her husband, Don, and her oldest son, Bob Kline. Surviving her are daughter-in-law, Lettie (Chas) Raduazo of Boise, Idaho; son, Dick (Lisa) Kline of Napa, Calif.; daughter, Midge (Pepper) Smock and son, Sam (Leslie) Kline all of Coeur d’Alene; grandchildren, Tracy (Rich) Jacobson, Mardi (Kevin) Barr, Matt (Sarah) Kline, David Kline, Jon (Jenna) Kline, Adam Kline, Tyler and Taylor Blackman, Summer (Dallan) Pope, Amy (Terry) Smock, Duffy (Jennifer) Smock, Kelli Gail (James) Jonakin, Keith (Shannon) Kline; great-grandchildren, Jaycee Jacobson, Kyla Jacobson, Taylor Stone, Hayden Barr, Megan and Madison Kline, Caroline and Lucy Kline, Anna (Aron) Tesulov, Brittany, Jaiden and Teigan Pope, Cailey and Boston Ostrowski, Breaux Smock, Hunter, Ally and Josh Kline, and Dagney and Fritz Jonakin.

Mom, Gaumie, and “The Princess” had a wonderful, full life; well-loved and doted on.
