Cowboy Ball breaks record

| June 29, 2018 1:00 AM

The North Idaho Fair and Rodeo Foundation announced its 2018 Cowboy Ball raised nearly $110,000, a record-setting figure.

The event, held in April, attracted more than 500 people to the Kootenai County Fairgrounds for an evening of country western dancing with music by The Last Chance Band and Jacque Jolene. Guests were greeted by co-chairs Katie Bane and Gayle Stegmann and walked down a red carpet for VIP photographs.

Title sponsors Eve Knudtsen, Knudtsen Chevrolet, and Linda Rider, Kootenai/Shoshone Farm Bureau, went on stage to thank those in attendance and Friends of the Foundation, followed by a short program that included a live and silent auction.

The Cowboy Ball is an annual event that raises money for youth scholarships and capital improvements at the Kootenai County Fairgrounds. With money from this year’s event, eight scholarships were awarded totaling $8,500.

Additionally, $35,000 will be used to provide updated lighting in the Findlay Arena for special events, including the Gem State Stampede held in conjunction with the North Idaho State Fair, Aug. 22 to 26.
