Update: More fires pop up

| July 30, 2018 4:21 PM

There are now at least six different wildfires, possibly more, burning in various locations throughout the north and western sections of Kootenai County.

Firefighters from multiple agencies continue to work these fires as they pop up. Planes are being used to fight these fires, and they are also are being used spot fires throughout the area.

We’re still trying to confirm the locations of all the fires, but we know wildfires are burning or have been stopped: somewhere in Athol, on the grounds of the Coeur d’Alene Airport, Wyoming and 95, Hwy 53 and 95, Hauser near Newman Lake, on Circle S. Trail in Rathdrum, and possibly at Hwy 53 and Meyer Road.

We’ve also heard a report that a firefighter was struck by a vehicle and injured. He was reportedly in stable condition and being transported to Kootenai Health.

It’s unclear if any structures have burned.

This is a developing story.
