Roger T. Salsbury, 71
Roger T. Salsbury of Hayden, Idaho, passed away at his home on July 18, 2018, peacefully with his wife Robin by his side. Roger was born July 26, 1946, in Sidney, Mont., to Raymond and Emma Salsbury. Roger moved to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, with his parents, three brothers and twin sister in the late 1950s.
He graduated from Coeur d’Alene High School in 1964. Roger married his first wife, Barbara Brown, in 1965. They had three boys. Sadly, Barbara passed away from cancer at age 33.
Roger was drafted by the Army into the Vietnam War and served our country as a side gunner and then a helicopter mechanic. He received an honorable discharge and returned home in 1968.
Roger went to work in the Zinc plant in Kellogg, Idaho for a few years and then went to work for Kaiser Aluminum as a machinist until he retired at the age of 49. That is where he met his current wife, Robin. Roger and Robin had a great life together; they loved to travel. Some of the places they visited were Mexico, the Caribbean on a cruise, Canada to ski and Disney World, just to name a few.
He loved spending time with family and friends and was always up for anything, whether it was camping up the Coeur d’Alene River, golfing with his friends from the Eagles or fishing and four wheeling with friends. Roger also loved being the “Supervisor” of anything — no matter what. He always said, “I am an excellent supervisor.” Roger and Robin took up restoring old cars. The first one was a 1953 Studebaker and the last one was a 1939 Plymouth, which they just recently finished restoring.
Roger is preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Emma Salsbury; brothers, Lloyd, Boyd and Dale; twin sister, Raynay; his first wife, Barbara Salsbury; and daughter-in-law, Mary Salsbury.
He is survived by his wife Robin; sons, Rodney, Todd (Shanna) and Chad (Kristen); grandchildren, Samuel Salsbury, Jenny Salsbury, Kelley Pahl, Miranda Salsbury, Emma-Grace Salsbury, Jake Diven and Ryan Salsbury.
Rog, Dad and Grandpa, you will be missed so much and we love you.
