Alice ‘Polly’ Pauline Schlepp, 88
Polly passed away on July 22, 2018, surrounded by her loving children in her home at 8:30 p.m. She was reunited in Heaven with Al, her husband of 60 years; her first born, Kathy; her great-granddaughter, Audrey and many more relatives and friends.
Polly was born at 10:30 p.m. on Jan. 31, 1930, with her Aunt Jo as the midwife. Welcoming her were parents, William and Dorothy Martin, as well as her brother, William, to their farm outside Clarence, Mo. Polly attended her first six years at Shale School (the same school that her dad attended for eight years). In 1936 they sold the farm and moved to Lake Chelan, Wash., before moving to Stemilt Hill in Wenatchee, Wash., They finally settled in Hayden Lake, Idaho.
Polly graduated from Coeur d’Alene High School in 1948 and was active in the school alumni association. After attending Sacred Heart School of Nursing she became an RN. Polly went to work at Lake City Hospital in Coeur d’Alene. When marrying Albert William Schlepp, they moved to Montana where she practiced nursing at Holy Family Hospital, in Miles City. Al and Polly settled in Hayden Lake, raising their five children, twins Kathy and Donna, Michelle, Steve and Ron. Returning to work, Polly set up the new delivery room at Coeur d’Alene General Hospital (now known as Kootenai Health), followed by working wherever she was needed in the hospital.
After retiring she worked another six years traveling north Idaho as a home health nurse. Polly held very dear watching and participating in Schlepp family racing. When she finally retired she kept busy with going to Hawaii, Canada and visiting her nine-grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, their spouses, relatives and friends.
Polly was a very compassionate person and will be missed by all. The family would like to thank Hospice of North Idaho for all their kind and compassionate help during this difficult time. There will be a celebration of life service at 2 p.m. on Monday July 30, 2018, at Christ The King Lutheran Church, 1700 E. Pennsylvania Ave., Coeur d’Alene, ID 83814.
