HAYDEN — Government Way from Hayden Avenue to Dakota Avenue will be closed from 8-10 a.m. on Saturday due to the Hayden Days “Military Appreciation” Parade, recreation and community events director Suzanne Cano said Monday. At 9:55 a.m., side streets from Hayden Avenue to Nita Avenue will also be blocked off. Government Way and the side streets will reopen once parade units have passed, Cano added.

The parade will proceed on Government Way from Hayden Avenue to Honeysuckle Avenue and will feature 2017 Distinguished Veteran of the Year Harold Markiewicz, local businesses, first responders, entertainers, classic cars, and a flyover. The parade applications deadline has been extended to Wednesday.

Hayden Days will take place at McIntire Family Park from 2-9 p.m. on Friday, and 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday. The Kelly Hughes Band will perform on Friday night and The Fabulous Kingpins will play on Saturday night. The Hayden’s Got Talent “All-Star” Show, including performances from past HGT winners, will start at 1:30 p.m. Saturday.
