Angola-Rodas signs
with Orlando Magic
Guard Braian Angola-Rodas, the North Idaho College product who later transferred to Florida State, signed an Exhibit 10 contract with the Orlando Magic.
Angola-Rodas played with the Magic during the recent NBA Summer League.
Angola-Rodas averaged 12.5 points and 3.9 rebounds per game for the Seminoles, who advanced to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament in March, eliminating Gonzaga in the Sweet 16 in Los Angeles. He led NIC to a 31-2 record in 2015-16, advancing to the NJCAA Tournament in Hutchinson, Kan.
According to Hoopsrumors.com, players who sign Exhibit 10 deals often end up being waived before the start of the regular season and joining their team’s G-League affiliate. The Magic’s affiliate is the Lakeland Magic.
Lakers sign former
Zag forward Williams
The Los Angeles Lakers signed former Gonzaga standout Johnathan Williams on Saturday.
Terms of the deal were not released.
Williams, a 6-foot-9, 228-pound forward, played in seven Las Vegas Summer League games, averaging 4.4 points and 4.6 rebounds in 24.6 minutes per game.
In 37 games — 36 starts — for Gonzaga as a senior, the first team All-West Coast Conference honoree averaged 13.4 points, 8.5 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game. He was also named to the all-conference first team in 2017 and represented Team USA in the FIBA U16 and U17 World Championships in 2011 and 2012, winning two gold medals.
