Singers were right then - and still are
Look outside.
There’s glory for you. Peace. Sanity. Sunshine on your shoulders.
If a hefty dose of Mother Nature’s nurturing is just what you need, you’re far from alone.
Sometimes the world is too much. Steve Cameron’s column today reaches into the abyss and asks a question you might not have considered. You might not have considered it because the answer would terrify you. If you could choose existing somewhere between life and death, would you? At times, maybe most of us would.
Sometimes the world moves too fast. Who can keep up, let alone get ahead? And when you get left behind, there is no more lonely or frightening feeling.
Today’s message is ridiculously simple, the furthest thing from profound you might stumble across all day. But that’s OK. Once in a while we all need to stick a foot out and dig a toe into the dirt and hold on tight as we try to slow down this carousel on steroids.
To help us in that quest, we call on accompaniment from fellow travelers Paul Simon and Art Garfunkle. Paul and Art released “The 59th Street Bridge Song” 52 years ago next month, but it can still leave you feelin’ groovy.
Slow down
You move too fast
You gotta make
The morning last, just
Kickin’ down
The cobble stones
Looking for fun
And feeling groovy…
Hello lamppost
What’cha knowin’?
I’ve come to watch
Your flowers growin’
Ain’tcha got no
Rhymes for me?
Do-in do do,
Feelin’ groovy…
I got no deeds to do
No promises to keep
I’m dappled and drowsy
And ready to sleep
Let the morning-time drop
All its petals on me
Life I love you
All is groovy.
