Shippy, a senior from Lake City High, is a nominee for Big 12 Athlete of the Year. Fans are able to vote for male and female choices from Friday to Monday at Big12Sports.com. Fan voting will be considered in the final tally for the award. Shippy was also the 2018 Big 12 Softball Player of the Year; an All-Big 12 first team selection; selected first team NFCA All-American, becoming just the second three-time NFCA All-American in school history; a USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year Top 10 finalist; Senior CLASS first team All-American and finished in the top five nationally in batting average (.417), on-base percentage (.613), runs (73) and walks (57).

Nick Nyquist

Nyquist, a Coeur d’Alene High product and rising senior infielder at Gonzaga, became the Sweets all-time leading hitter with a double in the fourth inning of a July 12 game. Nyquist broke the mark with 123 hits in his three-year career.

Kris Jackson

Lowell Spinners

Jackson, a pitcher from Lakeland High, was promoted from the Rookie League Gulf Coast Red Sox to the Class A short season team in the New York-Penn League. Jackson has appeared in one game for Lowell, saving Monday’s game at Batavia (N.Y.). In his eight innings of relief pitching, Jackson has 10 strikeouts and no walks.
