Amador invited to national summit

| July 17, 2018 1:00 AM

Rep. Paul Amador is one of approximately 50 state legislators from across the U.S. to participate in the bipartisan Millennial Action Project (MAP) Future Summit July 29-30.

The MAP Future Summit serves as an opportunity for state legislators to learn about and discuss the issues most important across the country irrespective of political party.

The Millennial Action Project vision is “to create a political environment where bipartisan cooperation is restored as our nation’s governing paradigm and our elected leaders work more closely together to address the challenges we face as a generation and nation.”

National Board Members for MAP include: U.S. Sen. Bill Bradley, a Democrat; U.S. Sen. Olympia Snowe, a Republican; Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm, a Democrat; Utah Gov. and U.S. Ambassador Jon Huntsman, a Republican; and former U.S. Chief Technology Officer Aneesh Chopra, among others.

“It seems every day we are bombarded by media on television and the internet informing us that our political system is growing more divisive and broken; many people feel that their elected representatives care more about politics than their constituents’ concerns,” Amador said in a news release. “I believe the Future Summit provides an opportunity to learn about, focus on, and build coalitions to provide real-world solutions for real-world problems in communities and states across the country.”

Topics of discussion at the Future Summit include: the student loan and debt crisis, health care in America, criminal justice reform, and the future of work in a “gig” economy. A keynote address will be led by Matthew Dowd, an ABC political analyst and former chief strategist to the Bush-Cheney 2004 presidential campaign.

The Future Summit is hosted jointly this year at Pepperdine University and the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library.

“I am honored to be selected to attend the MAP Future Summit, I hope that I can bring back new experiences, knowledge, and relationships that will help to make Idaho a better place for future generations,” Amador said.
