Gail Patricia Brooks (Kainz), 76

Gail Patricia Brooks (Kainz), longtime resident of Hayden Lake, Idaho, passed from this life peacefully at Kootenai Medical Center in Coeur d‘Alene, Idaho, on Friday, July 13, 2018, at the age of 76.

Gail is survived by her husband of 42 years, Michael Brooks of Hayden, Idaho; her four children, Tony Daniels of Post Falls, Idaho, Ward Daniels of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Michaelyn Brooks of Hayden Lake and Gina Brooks of Thousand Oaks, Calif.; her eight grandchildren, Katie, John, Rebecca, Michael, Matthew, Jenna, Joey and Emerson; and three great-grandchildren, Elliot, Tatum and Luke. She is also survived by her younger brother, George Kainz of North Hollywood, Calif., as well several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by both of her parents.

Gail was born July 30, 1941, in Chicago, Ill. to William and Loraine Kainz. Her family moved to Southern California as a teenager and she graduated from Santa Monica High School in 1959. She was a graphic artist with Hughes Aircraft and later owned a successful print shop business in Thousand Oaks until her retirement in 1998. Gail moved to Hayden Lake with her husband to enjoy her retirement years on their horse ranch. She also enjoyed fishing, playing poker and watching the sunsets with a glass of wine in hand.

She was a loving and dedicated wife, mother and grandmother, and was cherished by all her family and friends. A celebration of her life is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 19, 2018, at her daughter’s home in Hayden Lake with a casual reception to follow. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Gail’s life.
