Amy Elder

It is with great sadness to announce the unexpected passing of Amy Elder last Sunday, July 8, 2018. Her husband, Jeff, was by her side during this time.

Amy was born in Torrance, Calif., to Herman and Irene Lackyard. She grew up in Torrance and moved to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, where she attended grade school, junior high and graduated from Coeur d’Alene High School. After high school she helped open her family’s business, Herman’s Automotive, where she quickly became the office manager and worked side-by-side with her father until its closing.

Shortly after high school she met her husband, Jeff, whom she married and sparked a magical loving journey together for over 30 years.

Amy was such a fun-loving, enthusiastic woman with a love for animals. She advocated for the safety of all animals. It was her passion. She also loved clothes and shopping. Amy was also a big part of the success of her husband’s business, Elder Automotive. She loved helping people, and especially animals. Amy enjoyed boating on the lake with her husband on their houseboat that they built together.

Amy will be missed by so many of us. She was preceded in death by her father, Herman Lackyard. She leaves behind her husband, Jeff; mother, Irene; sister, Dina and husband Jim; step-son, Jeffery; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, grandchildren and many friends.

Amy’s celebration of life will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Friday July 20, 2018, at English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene, with a reception to follow at the Roosevelt Inn.

Rest in peace our sweet Amy.
