Wiles leads, Grove tied for fourth after first round at Rosauers
SPOKANE — PGA Professional Justin Wiles of Eagle Point (Ore.) Golf Club shot a 7-under 64 to take the first-round lead at the Rosauers Open Invitational on Friday at Indian Canyon.
Wiles leads by one stroke over PGA Professional Luke Baker of Deer Park Golf Club and amateur Ben DuBois of Renton, Wash.
North Idaho College golf coach Russell Grove, last year’s runner-up, is tied for fourth after shooting a 5-under 66.
Brent Walsh of the Coeur d’Alene Golf Club shot an even-par 71 and is tied for 33rd.
Amateur Derek Bayley of Rathdrum and Prairie Falls co-owner Billy Bomar each shot 72. Bayley was eliminated Thursday in the Round of 32 at the Pacific Northwest Golf Association men’s amateur in DuPont, Wash., allowing him to play in the Rosauers.
Other locals (pros unless noted): Josh Grenier (Prairie Falls) 72, Chase Mitchell (amateur) 75, Taylor Fore (amateur) 78, Tim Morton (StoneRidge) 78, Matthew Nosbaum (Circling Raven) 81 and Jayce Yoshida (amateur) 82.
The 54-hole tournament continues today and concludes Sunday.
