SHOPPER: A happy ending
Last week, I submitted a letter to the editor regarding the treatment my soon to be 95-year-old mother, Virginia Stanton, received at the Fred Meyer store when she presented her personal check for payment of her purchases. My husband received a call from the vice president of their Boise office voicing his sincere apologies and stated Len would be getting a call from the head of the Coeur d’Alene store in “a couple of hours.”
Twenty minutes later, Diana from the Coeur d’Alene store called. Again apologizing profusely and asking when we might be taking my mother grocery shopping again and if we would come by for an in-person apology and gift card for Mom. Len said we would be in town on Monday, July 9. That day my mother received the personal apology, gift card and a beautiful floral arrangement. She was also told her check will ALWAYS be honored at their store and that all of their cashiers were instructed on this!
I wish to thank the gracious way the employees at Fred Meyer addressed this problem. Due to their efforts, my mother will continue to shop at her favorite store.
