Radiant buying Renaissance, plans immediate expansion

Radiant Senior Living has acquired The Renaissance, a 64-unit assisted living and memory care community in Coeur d’Alene.

Radiant owns and operates 19 independent living, assisted living, and memory care communities in six western states: Oregon, Washington, Montana, Colorado, Nevada, and now Idaho. In addition to continuing all of the programs The Renaissance has in place, Radiant brings more senior living experience and innovative programs to the community.

Radiant will begin the ownership transition immediately, the company announced Monday.

“Our mission at Radiant Senior Living is to create and sustain comfortable, caring environments for those who depend on us. That mission is considered when making each decision we make and with each action we take,” said Jodi Guffee, chief operations officer for Radiant Senior Living.

“The city of Coeur d’Alene is a thriving location for people of all ages seeking the adventure and quality of life that Northern Idaho is famous for,” said James Guffee, president and CEO of Radiant Senior Living. “To meet the increasing need for housing and health care options for seniors in the area, Radiant will immediately begin construction of a 16-unit expansion of The Renaissance in August, bringing the total size of the community to 80 units.”

He said the expansion should be completed next February.

Both companies have been owned by families dedicated to senior care — the Glauser family and the Weber family at The Rennaisance and the Guffee family with Radiant. According to a Radiant press release, both Valeri Glauser and Jodi Guffee became interested in senior living because of each of their fathers owning senior living communities. Both Valeri and Jodi started volunteering and working with their fathers at their respective companies as adolescents.
